Iowa Libertarians, we are pleased to announce caucus locations for our first caucus as a major party. We are having regional caucus sites as this is an important opportunity to organize further as we grow as a major party.
Our caucuses will be held February 5th from 7:00p-9:00p at all sites, with check-in starting at 6:00p. As we are still organizing per our newly gained major party status, we are holding caucuses at regional sites with multiple counties per site.
During our caucuses, we will be electing county committee persons who will become voting members for our county parties. In many counties this will be the first formation of local party affiliates, helping Iowa Libertarians organize locally and be better prepared to support and run Libertarian candidates.
Running for and voting on county leadership positions of County Party Chairman and Secretary will also occur during caucus evening. We encourage all leaders interested in organizing and forming county parties to attend and run for these positions.
Post caucus, on the same evening, we will also be holding our county conventions as well at the same site for county convention delegates selected during the caucus proceedings. During this convention, in addition to the regular order of business, we will conduct a straw poll for the Libertarian gubernatorial primary candidate Jake Porter and Marco Battaglia!
You will also have an opportunity to become a state/district delegate and have a say in party leadership and our delegation to the 2018 Libertarian National Convention. Only delegates selected on February 5th will be certified to vote on these important matters during our State Convention in March.
These are among our first steps as a major party to break the “two party tyranny” that has divided our state, thank you in advance for your dedication to our liberties and to fighting to maintain our rights.
