Per Iowa code 43.4; Political Parties in Iowa (Major Party Status) are required to hold Precinct Caucuses and County conventions which elect delegates to the State Convention and start the process of choosing Presidential candidates.
Each political party must follow Iowa law and their own Constitution and Bylaws during the caucus and county conventions.
To participate in the Libertarian Party of Iowa’s Caucus: a person must simply be a resident of the State of Iowa and registered to vote as a Libertarian. (Click here to check your registration). The party shall also be allowing same day registrations at caucus by filling out Voter Registration forms. The LP County Chair or site leader shall return the forms to the County Auditor after the Caucus. Site leaders for the Caucus shall have a list of all registered Libertarians in their county.
It is advisable for caucus goers to look into potential Libertarian Presidential candidates prior to caucus as there will be a non-binding Presidential preference poll.
