What a year! And it is only one month old! From major policy shifts at the national level to funding battles at the state level to opportunities for change through elections at the local level, there is plenty to keep Iowans active.
The LPIA leadership has continued to work on the structural changes for and timing of the transition to officially-recognized political party status. We know Iowa’s Libertarians are eager for this recognition. We also know being a political party is much more than a designation by the Secretary of State. There is considerable work – and money – and time – to receive and maintain the status. There is also responsibility to the Party’s members, registered voters, and all citizens of the state.
Ultimately, we ask you, the voters of Iowa, to entrust our candidates to represent you in elected office. We recognize the importance political party status – and retaining that status in 2018 – has in gaining your trust.
We invite you to learn more about the Libertarian Party of Iowa. We have added a calendar section to this website. Check there for meetings, events, and locations where you can talk with Libertarians. Go to the Get Involved tab and select Calendar.
The LPIA convention with speakers and luncheon on Saturday, March 25, 2017, is also a great opportunity to learn about Libertarians. The social on Friday, March 24, 2017, is another option, with a lower price but still great conversation.
In addition to meetings held by the party’s county affiliates, there are topics from the Iowa legislature on the party’s and its affiliates’s Facebook pages.
We also ask you for your financial support. Please donate to help cover daily operating expenses, as well as building awareness of the LPIA across Iowa.
You can also help by checking Libertarian on your voter registration. This is free speech. There is no charge to change your registration, or to register for the first time. Yet, easier than any protest march, your voter registration choice makes a statement that it is time for change.
