Register and Vote

Iowa is an amazing state. Over 68,000 people have requested absentee ballots so far and numerous other people have already voted at satellite voting locations. Yet, an Iowan who is eligible to vote but who has never even registered to vote can walk into his or her polling site at 8:55 p.m. on November 8, 2016, fill out a voter registration form and cast a ballot. We ask you for your vote for our Libertarian candidates.

We want your voting experience to be positive. The ACLU has prepared a pamphlet on voting rights. Here is a copy of that pamphlet.  If you have any questions on where to vote on November 8, 2016, or how to vote before Election Day, contact the County Auditor’s office in the county where you live. You can also visit the website of Iowa’s Secretary of State for information.

Election Day is now just 16 days away. There is not much else to say. We have told you of our candidates, from Gov. Gary Johnson and Gov. Bill Weld seeking to serve as president and vice president of the United States, down the ballot  with our candidates for U.S. Senate and the U.S. representative from the 3rd Congressional District, plus our 6 candidates for seats in the Iowa Senate and 12 candidates for Iowa House, wrapping up with our 3 candidates for county offices. We have shared the candidates’ answers on how they would handle issues of concern to Americans and Iowans. We have written of how a vote for the Libertarian is a vote for changing the way politics is conducted in Iowa and for improving the lives of Iowans and Americans.

We have 16 days left to encourage Iowans to vote and to vote for the Libertarian choice. There is still time to put up a yard sign, place a bumper sticker on your vehicle or backpack, and talk with your friends and neighbors about voting Libertarian. We continue to need, and ask for, your volunteer time to help the LPIA and our candidates make a significant statement at the ballot box this election.

The League of Women Voters deserves a special thank you. The organization has a Vote411 site at which answers candidates provided to answers are displayed by district. Plus, the League has held numerous forums across the state, allowing voters in small districts not covered by major media to hear from all of the candidates for those local races. Local media in the communities are also given thanks for their reporting on those forums and all the candidates in attendance.
