The Third Presidential Debate

As with the first two debates, Gary Johnson will be posting comments on Twitter and other social media instead of being allowed on the stage in Las Vegas where many more voters could hear his answers to questions. After the debate, Gov. Johnson will be on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Moderator Chris Wallace has selected six topics for tonight’s debate: debt and entitlements, immigration, economy, Supreme Court, foreign hot spots, and fitness to be president. (Note: The debate and this post are occurring on October 19th but due to time stamping of the post, the date appears as October 20th.)

8:25 p.m. – recent tweet from @GovGaryJohnson: Let’s build economic bridges to , not walls.

8:42 p.m. – LPIA.org comment: This debate is focusing more on issues than the other two. It is fun, though, to listen to the answers the candidates give as they avoid providing answers to the questions asked.

8:47 p.m. – recent tweets from @GovGaryJohnson:

The isolationism of is stunning. “Going our own way” on trade means more taxes on you and me.

“Investments” (n): Bigger government from

9:03 p.m. – LPIA.org comment: Issues went out the door of the debate several minutes ago. Searching the Internet for interesting comments, came across the second commentary encountered today lamenting the lack of polling in Iowa in recent weeks.

9:21 p.m. – Despite the underlying argument of who caused what (Trump or Clinton), the debate has turned to Iraq, Iran, and Syria. Here are some tweets on the topic from @GovGaryJohnson:

“Element of surprise” in this case would have cost a lot of civilian lives

Let’s get real. BOTH and supported the war in Iraq. Now they want to cover up their mistakes.

We need better judgment on foreign policy. I opposed the Iraq War and would not put our young people in harm’s way unless attacked.

LPIA.org comment – listening to the debate on the radio while it is on the television in another room. There is a significant delay in the radio broadcast.

9:36 p.m. – Closing statements on debate and @GovGaryJohnson tweets:

1/ Why America should elect Bill Weld and me:
2/ Fiscally conservative
3/ Socially inclusive
4/ Skeptical of our military interventions
5/ The only advocates for free trade
6/ We’ll stop the polarization, call out both sides, and bring America together
7/ The only ticket to include successful governors (and former Republican governors of Democratic-leaning states, at that)
8/ Honest, transparent, and honorable

Bill Weld and I are the alternative you can be proud of

They’re in so let me ask- are you really willing to gamble with our future on these two?
