Libertarians Ready to Serve at the Local Level

Voters in two Iowa communities have the choice, on November 3, 2015, to elect an individual who supports Libertarian values to represent them. Jacob Bryan is seeking a seat on the Hiawatha City Council and Nathan Gentry is running for the Rockwell City Council.

Jacob Bryan decided to take action as he watched the City of Hiawatha continue to take away property rights. A systems engineer at Rockwell Collins, his campaign pledge is: “If we want civil liberties then we first must have economic liberty; therefore, I will get the government out of everyone’s way.” Hiawatha is in Linn County.

Nathan Gentry was asked by members of his community to run. He is a local businessman and volunteer. Nathan’s mother is Lynne Gentry, who sits on the LPIA Executive Committee as an At-Large Member and who ran for Iowa’s 10th House District in 2014. Rockwell City is in Calhoun County.

These local offices are nonpartisan and no party affiliation will be listed on the ballot. Nonetheless, for the communities, choosing Libertarians means having a voice for minimum government, maximum freedom. For the party, having Libertarians run means building depth and gaining experience for the party. Even if you are not eligible to vote for these candidates, we encourage supporting the candidates financially, with a thank you message, and/or by choosing to seek office yourself and gain from their experience.
