Nicholas Gluba Secures Ballot Access for Iowa Governor Race
DES MOINES, Iowa (06/03/2026) — Libertarian gubernatorial candidate Nicholas Gluba has officially earned a place on Iowa’s November ballot after the Iowa Secretary of State’s Office accepted his affidavit of candidacy and petition signatures.
On Tuesday, Gluba submitted more than 8,000 signatures — far exceeding the 3,500 required for statewide ballot access. The campaign also met Iowa’s county distribution requirements, reaching communities in every corner of the state.
The petition drive was built on months of organizing across the state. Working his day jobs and spending evenings and weekends on the trail, Gluba met voters in coffee shops, diners, bars, community centers, and living rooms across Iowa.
“Through hard work, determination, thousands of miles driven, hundreds of miles walked, and thousands of hands shaken, we have achieved ballot access,” said Gluba. “The easiest part is done — and now the harder work begins. I think a new pair of steel-toe boots will be in order before Election Day.”
Gluba, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and Lone Tree City Council member who continues to hold multiple jobs while campaigning, said the effort reflected growing demand among Iowans for an alternative to the two major parties.
“For too long, Iowa voters have been told they only have two choices,” Gluba said. “This November, Iowans will have a true alternative on the ballot. Our campaign is about giving voters a voice independent of the Republican and Democratic establishments and bringing common-sense solutions back to state government.”
With ballot access secured, the campaign will launch a statewide voter outreach tour this summer. Details on events and appearances will be announced in the coming weeks.
