He has championed such legislation as the PRIME Act (Processing Revival and Interstate Meat Exemption Act), which aims to reduce federal barriers for local farmers and processors, allowing them to sell meat directly to consumers, free from the heavy hand of restrictive USDA regulation. Thomas Massie as Secretary of Agriculture may not directly fulfill the pledge to appoint a formal Libertarian, it would nonetheless be a powerful choice.
