Libertarian Party of Iowa 2006 State Convention

Meskwaki Convention Center, 1504 305th Street, Tama, Iowa

We need you in Tama on March 25 to decide the future of the Libertarian Party in Iowa, but before the business meeting begins in the afternoon, we will have a morning of:

• Free time and/or casino tours
• a report on blogs and meet-ups
• meeting and discussion time with both the "Libertarians in Action" editor and our state party's web mistress
• a report about goings on at National
• recognition of our 2004 candidates with presentation of their certificates
• Richard Campagna speaking on "What it is like to be a Libertarian on the National Stage"
• munchies
• a separate video room with over 8 hours of LP and related programming to choose from
• sessions for affiliate groups
• petitioning skills, campaigning,
• a review of issue groups and events members have attended (ISEC, ACLU, ABATE, etc.)
• all office holders will get a chance to speak
• a demonstration on something that has absolutely nothing to do with the LP
• and then for lunch a guest speaker from the Iowa branch of the American Civil Liberties Union speaking about our lawsuit against the state.

Obviously, no one can take in all that in 3 hours. Who would really want to? But if you are interested in something, we have made the effort to provide it for you.

The business session, which is open to all members with expiration dates of 31 December 2005 or later, begins after one of the Meskwaki Casino's famous buffet lunches. Members that expired in 2005 will be required to pay $10 to vote. This $10 fee may be rebated on this year's membership, depending upon how the membership votes.

Registration for the convention is $29 in advance (this is necessary to cover lunch, munchies, speaker fees, and other expenses), which must be received by March 22 at the Party's P.O. box, or $39 at the door. The first 50 people to register will receive a free LP button or bumper sticker.
