LPIA 2005 Convention

The Libertarian Party of Iowa annual convention will be held on Saturday, April 2. The Cedar Rapids Marriott has been chosen as the location of this year's event, and discounted hotel rooms are available. Plan to join us for drinks and a social gathering on Friday night, and then a full day of events on Saturday. The day's schedule of events appears below, and online registration is available.

Location
The Cedar Rapids Marriott (formerly Collins Plaza Hotel) is located one block East off of I-380 at 1200 Collins Road NE in Cedar Rapids. Convention rate is $99 per night. Ask for the Libertarian Party rate.

Schedule for Saturday, April 2

9:00 AM	Registration Begins
10:00 AM	Sandy Steinbach, Director of Elections, Iowa Secretary of State's office
11:00AM	Ballot access strategy with the Greens
Noon	Lunch
1:00 PM	Speaker Michael Whalen - Policy Chair of the National Center of Policy Analysis
2:30 PM	Annual LPIA business meeting, including election of officers.
The newly elected Executive Committee will meet after the business meeting.
4:30-???? PM	Linn County Libertarians Post-Convention Shoot The Linn County Libertarian Party will host a shoot at the heated indoor pistol range of the Izaac Walton League. You will need to bring your own ammo, targets, and weapons, although many of the members my be willing to share what they've got. Range rules call for eye and ear protection whenever you are on the line and there is firing. There is a back room where you can socialize and observe the firing. There are only 8 firing lanes open at any time. No black powder weapons. Bullets must be FMJ or cast only. No hollow points allowed, they destroy the steel back drop or put too much lead into the air. Paper targets only. The range is 50 feet. No alcoholic beverages allowed. Follow the commands of the range officer for proper firearms safety. Directions: Indoor pistol range, Izaac Walton League, 5401 42nd Street NE, Cedar Rapids From the Cedar Rapids Marriot (convention site), go West on Collins Boulevard until it ends on Edgewood Road. Turn South or left till the second light or first thru street which is 42nd Street NE. Turn West or right on this street and keep going till you see the Izaac Walton League's sign on the left. If you pass over railroad tracks you have gone too far. The indoor pistol range is at the top on the hill under a cellular tower.
