Libertarian Presidential and Vice-Presidential Contenders in Fairfield Sunday

FAIRFIELD, Iowa -- Libertarian contenders for President, Gary Nolan, and for Vice-President, Richard Campagna, bring their nationwide campaign tours to Fairfield on Sunday, March 7th, 7 pm - 9 pm, at Morning Star Studio, 51-1/2 South Court Street. All are warmly invited to hear their messages about restoring small, constitutionally-limited government.

Gary Nolan, of Cleveland, Ohio, and Richard Campagna, of Iowa City, will share the Sunset Room for the casual get-together but they are not running mates. The Libertarian Party nominates its candidates for president and vice-president on separate ballots at its national convention, which will be held in Atlanta, May 27-31. There are currently three front-runners for the presidential nomination, and five candidates for the vice-presidential nomination.

Nolan says, "Our message must be one of optimism and hope for the future. We must do more than complain about the failed policies of Democrats and Republicans. We must present positive, libertarian solutions to the problems that concern average Americans. That's the kind of campaign I want to see a Libertarian Presidential candidate run. That's the kind of positive campaign I am committed to running."

Richard Campagna ran for lieutenant governor of Iowa in 2002 on the Libertarian ticket with gubernatorial candidate Clyde Cleveland of Fairfield. Campagna is an international businessman, a university instructor and a legal/psychological counselor. Says Campagna, "In education, law and life, the 'existential' and 'libertarian' approaches are most consistent with the human condition. Isn't it about time we introduced these philosophies and approaches into our daily existence and our government?"

Campagna chose the vice-presidential race to promote his convictions on national issues: "I am deeply committed to leading our government towards significant educational reform, economic downsizing and a non-interventionist foreign policy."

Just over ten years ago, Gary Nolan was working as a Syracuse radio talk host debating Libertarian Party guests on his show. By the time he left WHEN-AM (620) in 1994 to host a national show on the USA Radio Network he was philosophically a libertarian, but not yet a member. In addition to his radio show, Nolan was president from 1997 to 1999 of Capitol Watch, a taxpayer watchdog group based in Washington, D.C. There his growing disenchantment with Republicans and Democrats led Nolan to join the Libertarian Party.
