Past Election Results

2016

The Libertarian Party of Iowa became eligible for full political party status when Presidential candidate Gary Johnson and his running mate, Bill Weld, received more than 2% of the votes cast.  In the 3rd Congressional District, Bryan Jack Holder set another record by receiving 3.9% of the votes with five candidates seeking the office. The number of seats sought down the ballot was also noteworthy.

2014

Gubernatorial candidate Lee Hieb and her Lt. Gov. running mate, Tim Watson, came within 0.2 percentage points, in a five-way race, of gaining state-recognized party status for the Libertarian Party. In the 3rd Congressional District, Ed Wright also set a record by receiving 3.2% of the votes, even though there were four candidates running. Other Libertarian Party candidates also set new records in their contests. Don Brantz gave the Libertarian Party a candidate in the State Senate District special election held in December for the seat vacated by the newly-elected U.S. Senator.
